Gridsync makes Tahoe-LAFS installation and configuration easy and frictionless. No python installation or manual compilation is required. All you need is an "invite code" after S4 installation.
You get a graphical user interface for managing primary Tahoe-LAFS functionality (e.g., starting, stopping, configuring gateways) -- you will never have to edit a text file by hand or touch the command line.
Gridsync behaves like any other desktop application.
With Gridsync you will know, at a glance, when files are being uploaded or downloaded (via system tray icon animations) and will receive notifications when such operations have completed.
Gridsync will monitor local and remote directories, seamlessly storing or retrieving new versions of files as they appear (using Tahoe-LAFS' tahoe backup command and/or its forthcoming "Magic Folder" utility [*] ).
Gridsync allows easy sharing. Gridsync will use the magic-wormhole library to provide human-pronounceable "invite codes" for joining storage grids and sharing folders and files with other users.
